Although there was no chance that this would happen I loved reading it anyway. Show wise I would have loved for McGee and Ziva's actions to be discovered and consequences to be paid.

Love your story. Anything could have happened to Tony while they weren't listening. There should have been consequences.

I like the way you reason out this scene very much. I tried to argue with some people on the official boards and they simply didn't get it (well, maybe I don't get it but it seems as if I am at least not alone). it's not like in Missing, it is not like any other situation where one of them was on their own because in Missing/etc they knew that they were on their own, acted accordingly with the knowledge of being alone. Tony, if something happened, would have relied on backup that simply wasn't there. Just because they were tired of his voice? Why were they in the vehicle if their presence was not required? Shouldn't there have been better, more productive things for them to do than sitting in a vehicle, reading god knows what? No, the only thing that makes sense is that they were there as back-up and what they did is ... horrible and a LEO's worst nightmare. Someone said I shouldn't be so upset, surely they just joked about it, pretended that they listened. But there was no indication of that being true in the scene and even if it was a joke, it was one tasteless, horrific and disrespectful attempt at being funny that only showed their lack of respect and understadnng not only for teamwork but also for their profession. I was very upset that the show didn't deal with all these aspects on screen and your fic was just the plaster on my wounds that I needed. Thank you so much.
