Jeanne's last words

Ziva passed her I.D. over to the security guard on her way out of NCIS. As he looked it over Ziva thought of Tony up in the office on his own. She should have stayed and kept him company. It was different now that he was with Jeanne though, before her and Tony had been close. Well, as close as she could be with anyone. With the loss of Kate, Tony had once been hard to talk too, and every conversation had been hard going and one-sided. Time had healed old wounds and they had grown together and become good friends. There were once times when she had thought that maybe they would be more than friends; but with Jeanne that hope had disappeared. She often found herself staring at him, across the bullpen. She had to admit to herself, even though he was not Israeli, he was still hot. And it wasn't just that, she admired his humour and his ability to laugh at himself. There was something about him that attracted her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She envied at how he could laugh everything of with a joke. She could hear her father now

"There is never any time for jokes here Ziva"

She cringed at the thought of her father and erased him from her mind. Once again her thoughts trailed to Tony, up in the office. She had half a mind to turn back but the guard gave her back her card back and buzzed her out of the building. As she walked out she was startled by a whistling noise; a whipping sound like something was moving very fast through the air. Her stomach tightened and her hands immediately came up and she got ready to fight her attacker. She was instead surprised by a loud thump, right in front of her. Her arms shielded her head and she backed away. She opened her eyes to see a body in front of her. The neck was twisted at an angle Ziva didn't even think had been possible. Arms flailed out to the side and one legs was completely underneath the body. The face of the victim was turned away from Ziva so she stepped over the body. Blood slowly seeped into the tarmac, leaving a red stain upon the once grey car park floor. Ziva's mouth hung in astonishment, as she could now see the face of the victim and she found her self standing in front of a very wounded Jeanne. Even more surprising was the fact that she appeared still to be alive. Ziva knelt down beside her, her mouth still hanging wide open in shock. She watched as the last moments of life flickered from Jeanne eyes and her mouth made a feeble attempt to move. Ziva couldn't quite make out what she was trying to say. As she tried to speak again, Jeanne's eyes glazed over and turned cold. Ziva put her hand over Jeanne's eyes and closed them, before looking up from where Jeanne had fallen. It suddenly hit Ziva that she knew what Jeanne's last words had been. For twenty stories above her she could see a figure standing at the edge of the roof to the building. A figure she knew so well.

"Tony"
