The Wedding

Kate knocks at the door.
“ Katie, darling hey come in” her sister Julie says to the very tired Kate.
“ Now the party can really start” Scott said giving Kate a kiss on the cheek.
Kate just laughs at her soon to be brother in laws comment. She takes her things into the spare bedroom which is on the side of the house.
“ So when is ‘ Mr. Right’ getting here Katie?” Julie asks as she come to help her sister un pack.
“ He should be here tomorrow, in time for the wedding don’t you worry”.
Kate checked her phone for the millionth time to see if Gibbs had left any messages, but like every other there was nothing.
The rest of her family were outside talking and laughing the night away but she couldn’t stop thinking about what they would think of Gibbs, you know him being a lot older then she is and all.
“ So who is he?” Kate’s mum asked coming and sitting her bed.
“ Who’s who mum?”
“ You know, the guy you have been seeing for the past 3 yrs. Yes it has been 3 yrs because it has been 3 yrs since I last saw you.”
“ I’m sorry about that but I have been busy with and other things, but I’m here now” Kate says to her mum with a smile on her face.

Kate decides to go outside and say hello to the rest of the family. They are all glad to see her and they all ask her about her mysterious man that is coming tomorrow. They all ask if they have any plans to be married.
“ Well, no not really. We have both been tied up with cases that we haven’t really talked about marriage and kids” Kate tells everyone, although she thinks about the day that Gibbs will ask her to marry him everyday.
“ So he’s your boss I take it?” Dylan, her brother asks.
“ Yes. Is that a problem?”
“ Oh no, not at all”
“ Good”
It is after 11 when they decide to go to bed since they have to be up early to make sure everything is just right for tomorrow.
Kate gets ready to jump into bed when her phone starts to ring. It’s Gibbs.
“ Hello”
“ Hey, Kate its me”
“ Hey, where are you?”
“ Look I’m still about 7 hrs away. I’m staying at a motel tonight and should be there around 10 am”
“ Oh Gibbs we have to be out of here by 9 to go get our dresses” Kate tells Gibbs sounding very upset that he wont be here on time.
“ I’ll try and get there as soon as possible. Love you. Night”
“ Love you” and that was that. She was either going to have wait for him to arrive or go and make him wait at the front door until they got home.

Kate decided to go see her sister.
“ Hey Julie can I talk t you?”
“ Yeh sure, but can we make it quick”
“ Ok. Well Gibbs said he wont be here until 10 tomorrow and I know we have to leave here at 9 and I was thinking could you get my dress for me. I know I only just got here but I really want to be here when he arrives.”
“ Of course honey. I know what it’s like to be in love.”
“ Thankyou” Kate gave her sister a hug and was of to bed.

8:55 am.
“ Kate, honey we are going now. Make Gibbs feel at home” Julie yelled as they all left.
Kate was still in when they left and decided t get up at 9:30. She had a shower and tidied the place up a bit. She opened all the curtains to let the beautiful sunlight in.
10 am
No sign of Gibbs yet.
10:30 am
Margaret, Julies nurse that visits once a week has arrived to check on the house and what the she has been eating.
‘Ding Dong’
Kate practically ran to the door.
“ Gibbs!” she squealed. She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him so hard he almost fell over. His hands were full of food and his luggage.
“ Ok, well come on in and you can put all that stuff down and then I will give you the grand tour” Kate said trying very hard to hide her happiness.
“ So where am I sleeping?” Gibbs asks with a cheeky grin on his face.
“ Your sharing a room with me”
Kate lead him to their bedroom and Gibbs just chucked his bags on the bed and they headed towards the kitchen to put the food away.
“ Well now that’s done I’ll give you the tour. Lets start from the lounge room” She instructed as Gibbs followed close behind. Gibbs couldn’t help but kiss her every time they entered a new room.
“ And finally this is the backyard”
“ Its much bigger then my basement. Do you think Julie would let me build a boat in her yard?” Gibbs asked sarcastically.
“ I don’t know why don’t you ask her?” Kate said cheekily and Gibbs turned to her to see the smile on her face.
“ 4 days was to long to stay away from Katie” Gibbs said and Kate could see the lust in his eyes. Kate motioned to the bedroom with her eyes and she slowly slipped inside when Gibbs got a hold of her and kissed her passionately.
“ Uh Katie we…uhhh” Julie said as she walked in the door with her mum behind her and the dresses in her hand.
“ Oh your home great. Mum, Julie this is Gibbs” Kate said straightening herself up after her attack from Gibbs.
“ Nice to finally meet you” Gibbs politely said shaking her mum and sisters hands.
“ Yes, nice to finally meet the man that is making my Katie happy” were her mums words.
“ Well Kate I picked up your dress and we have to be at the hair dressers by 11 am tomorrow. Why don’t we make some lunch?” Julie said looking Gibbs up and down.
“ Sure” was all Kate could manage while staring at her sister.
“ I should go get my suite out of the car” Gibbs said and gave Kate a kiss on the check and headed of to the car.
Kate could sense that she was going to get the’ he’s to old for you Katie, cant you find a guy that is in your age range’ speech from her mother and sister.
As the women walked into the kitchen Kate could feel the tension already.
“ Ok I know he may be older then me but he is what makes me happy and that’s all I want” she starts the debate before her mum or sister could.
“ I wasn’t going to say anything about his age. Well ok maybe I was but he seems really sweet and I can tell he really loves you Katie and I do know how much that means to you, so like the big sister I am I do approve of him so hurry up and get married” her sisters says with a smile on her face.
“ I approve as well” her mum buts in. Kate cant believe her ears. She was sure they were going to make a big deal out of their age difference.
“ Thankyou so much. It has been so hard not knowing what you guys would think of him.”
“ Well you shouldn’t worry about us you know, its your brother and father you should worry about” her mum said pointing out the window to the silver car pulling up in the drive way. ‘ Oh god’ was Kate’s thoughts. She was right, her brother and father are very protective of her.
“ Ah yes I remember that boat she was a stunner”
“ She sure was” 3 male voices cam through the door. As soon as she saw Gibbs’s smile she knew that her dad and brother had obviously accepted him already.
“ I see you have met my father and brother” Kate says walking towards them and she kisses each one of them on the cheek.
“ Katie you never told me Gibbs builds boats. You know how I love boats.”
“ Yeh well dad you never asked” Kate replied looking up at Gibbs and she kissed him.
As they all sat out the back eating the chicken salad sandwiches, they talked about the first time Kate and Gibbs met on Air Force One and the first time they went on a date. They discussed the rest of the team and when would be a good time to tell them that they are together.
“ I think when they get an invitation to the wedding” Julie suggested with a giggle in her voice. Kate glared at her knowing that she would love to marry Gibbs but she wasn’t quite sure how Gibbs felt about the idea since he has done it 3 times.

The night air was cold as Gibbs walked outside to find Kate asleep on the chair swing. He couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
He had been inside with everybody else talking about tomorrow’s schedule. He leant over her and kissed her cheek, she didn’t wake up so he scooped her up in his arms and said good night and went to their bedroom. He gently placed Kate on the bed. As he was getting ready for bed he felt warm, soft hands run from his back to his chest.
“ I’m sorry if I woke you”
“ Not at all. I was just dreaming of you that’s all” she said as she started kissing his neck.
“ Was good or bad?”
“ Bad”
“ Bad? Why was it bad?” Gibbs asked turning around to face her.
“ Well….it was our wedding day and….your ex-wife shot you at the alter…..just as we were about to kiss” she said. Gibbs could she her eyes fill with tears.
“ Oh honey, nothing will ever happen to me our you. I will make sure of that” he said as he held her close to his chest.
They finally feel asleep.

9am
“ Oh my god, today’s the day. It’s finally here” Julie was prancing around the house.
“ Well someone’s a happy bride aren’t they” Kate said as she slipped out of the bedroom and onto a stool in the kitchen. Gibbs was already up and having his second coffee for the day.
“ Come on Katie, get ready we haven’t got much time”
“ Ok, but first can I give Jethro a hug first?”
“ Jethro?” Julie and her mum say in unison.
“ I mean Gibbs. Well his full name is Leroy Jethro Gibbs but we just call him Gibbs” Kate said looking up into Gibbs’s eyes.
“ Ok, well hurry up then”

11am
“ Julie we’re ready to go. Come on”
“ I cant find…..never mind got it”
Kate, Gibbs, Julie and the parents all forwarded out of the house and pilled in to the car. Gibbs could see that Kate was still worried about the dream she had last night. He put his hand on her knee and whispered
“ I’ll never leave you” and kissed her on the cheek.

3pm
Finally the girls are all ready to go to the church. They take a couple more photos and Kate and Gibbs get some by themselves.
On the way to the church the sun shines done on Kate and it makes her glow. All Gibbs can think about is ‘that she is my guardian angel.’
The ceremony is going beautifully. Kate is standing to the side behind the other bridesmaids and Gibbs is sitting in the front row on the brides side not taking his eyes her.
The ceremony comes to the part when he says ‘ If you have any reason why these two should not be wed in holy matrimony please speak now or forever hold your piece’. Gibbs waits 2 seconds then stands up.
“BANG!”
“ NOOOO!” Kate cries rushing towards Gibbs as she see’s him clutching his shoulder. He then turns around and fires 2 shots up the back. Kate see’s who he shoots. Its her ex-boyfriend Jeremy.
Kate finally reaches Gibbs and helps him stand up. He has been shot in the right shoulder and is loosing blood fast.
“ Someone call an ambulance” she yells. Her mother is the first one to reach for her phone and call them.
“ 10 minuets” she tells her.
“ Hold on ok. Your going to be fine.” She tells Gibbs holding her throw ova on the wound.
“ I’m fine. I just need to sit down” he says feeling for the set behind him. Kate slowly lowers him down and she sits next to him and puts his head on her lap.
Julie and Scott are still at the alter watching in disbelief.
“ Kate he will be ok.” Julie says coming over to her. She looks her sister in the eyes. She has never seen that look in Kate’s eyes before. The look of anger, sadness and terror.
“ I’ll never leave you” Gibbs says again ad holds her hand that is on his wound.

Gibbs wakes to hear the ticking of machines and the smell of disinfectant. He is in his own room and the blinds are closed. He looks down to his side to see Kate’s head resting on the bed. She is asleep but he can see her tear marks that run down her cheek.
He tries to sit up more but he gets a sharp pain in his shoulder which makes him groan. Kate wakes up with a snap.
“ Oh don’t try and move honey you’ll just make it worse” she said in her caring voice.
“ So what’s the bad news” he asked.
“ Well the guy who shot you was my ex Jeremy but you got him so he wont be a problem anymore. Also they are saying are very lucky. But you wont be able to work for 6-10 weeks.” Kate explained, although she knew he would be back at work as soon as they got back.
“ I just have one question for you Gibbs. Why did you stand up when he was asking for objections?”
“ Well to tell you the truth. As soon as I met your father and brother. I asked them for permission to….”
“ To what Gibbs?” She asked with concern in her voice/
“ Well….for your hand in marriage. I was going to ask you to marry me during the ceremony Kate.”
Kate could not believe what she was hearing. She just sat there staring at him.
“ Kate?” he asked and grabbed her hand.
“ Hmm. Oh um ok. You are the romantic type then aren’t you” she said with a chuckle.
“Kate since that didn’t happen today, the way I planned it.”
“ Yes”
“ Caitlin Todd. You are the most beautiful thing on this planet and without you I don’t think I could ever function again. You have my heart forever. Would you do me the honour of becoming my bride?” he asked looking deep into her beautiful eyes.
Kate breaks the connection and stands up. She then climbs on the bed and positions her body above his. She holds herself above him and leans in and kisses him passionately and whispers ‘yes’ into his ear. He couldn’t be more happier. He pulls away from her.
“ Where are my clothes?”
“ Um….the nurse has them. Why?”
“ There is something I need in my pocket. Can you see if you can get them for me?”
“Sure” she walks out of the room. He cant believe his luck. He has survived a gun shot and is engaged to the women of his dreams.
“ Ok I got them”
“ Can I please have my jacket”
She goes through the bag and pulls out his jacket and hands it to him. He goes through all the pockets with one hand.
“ Damn it”
“ What?”
“ Its not here. Can I have my pants”
He searches the pant pockets and he finds what he is looking for. A small velvet black box. He calls Kate over to his bed and gives her the black box.
“ Gibbs” she says with a rush of emotions going through her.
“ Open it”
“ Oh my god! Gibbs! I love it” she squeals and wraps her arms around his neck and doesn’t stop kissing him. He puts the ring on her finger.
“ Perfect” is all he is able to say.
“ Knock knock” came a voice from the opening door. It was Kate’s mum, dad, Julie and Scott.
“ What’s the matter?” Julie asks as she see’s the tears in Kate’s eyes.
“ We are engaged” she says taking Gibbs’s hand.
“ Oh my god really? That’s bloody brilliant” Julie couldn’t help but say.
Gibbs couldn’t take his eyes of his beautiful bride to be. Kate looked at him and in an instant his face changed from happy to scared.
“ What. What’s wrong?” Kate asks with nerves creeping in.
“ What is the team going to say?” Gibbs said looking at Kate. Kate just smirked and hit him playfully.
“ I don’t care” Kate said kissing him to make sure she means it.
