Chapter one
-----------

A body lay bound and gagged, face up in the middle of a navy training base, a knife sat in the body's neck. The face was covered by a plastic sheet that had a couple of rocks on it to stop it from blowing away. The NCIS truck was parked on the far side, on the edge of the field. Two of the three NCIS agents were patrolling the area looking for any evidence that may be on the ground. The senior field agent was stood with the medical examiner and his assistant examining the body. The agent snapped shots of the body's positioning before letting the ME remove the plastic sheet from the body's face. "It seems like the poor fellow was beaten before he died" the ME said to the young agent – only he didn't hear it as the young agent had collapsed onto the floor

When he came round Ducky, Kate and McGee were stood above Tony. Ducky was talking to Kate and McGee "it was when I was still an assistant ME, yes I remember that case well…" Tony moaning made Ducky stop mid-sentence, he turned around to see Tony attempting to get to his feet, beating away the help Kate and McGee offered him. Slowly Tony staggered to where the body still lay, hoping that his suspicions were incorrect, but knowing that they were. He stared at the body's face, trying not to through up. He dealt with dead bodies every day, why was this one so different? Because you're attached to him, a voice inside him replied. There was one way of telling if it really was…him…if it really was Tommy. He pulled his cell phone and went into his contacts. He pressed 4 twice and pressed the dial button.

Ring-ring ring-ring ring-ring. "Hello?" a puzzled women's voice answered.

"Hey mother, no time for chat. I was just wondering where Tommy was stationed." Tony said down the phone. The reply that came sounded like it was full of tears, "see this is why you should call more often, Tom went missing four months ago." Beeeeep. Tony put the phone down and clicked his fingers at McGee to pass him the laptop from his bag. McGee sighed and mumbled something along the lines of Tony turning into Gibbs when he's left in charge and passed Tony the laptop. Tony snapped it open which turned the laptop off standby and brought up the missing person register. When he typed in ‘Thomas DiNozzo' it came up with a hit, it also confirmed that Staff Sergeant Thomas DiNozzo had been missing for four months as Tony's mother had said. Tony bit down on his lip, making it bleed – anything was better than crying. Tony realised that the rest of the team were watching and so said "If every-one's finished then head back to the truck otherwise i suggest you get on with your work." Kate sighed, she knew this was an act just like everything else but she didn't say anything, she just head towards the truck along with every-one else
