They had planned Gibbs‘ retirement party as a surprise for him. Of course there was the usual office party, but the real party was afterwards. They took him into a bar. Tony and Abby had carefully chosen it. It was small, pretty unknown but very nice. Gibbs and Tony hadn't to think about who could see them and there were many gay couples so nobody cared about the two men together.

That night there was karaoke and Abby and Tony, both pretty drunk, wanted to do a contest. Gibbs and Ducky refused to take only one step too close to the stage, Palmer didn't think he could stand that long but McGee was in.

No surprise, McGee sucked. Abby had chosen the song for him which meant he had never heard it before.

Abby was better. McGee had, as revenge, chosen „Girls just wanna have fun" but she did pretty well.

It was Tony's turn and as he went through the catalogue he found it. The song.

The long intro started and Gibbs didn't recognized it. But Abby, McGee and Palmer did. They just smiled knowing exactly why he had chosen it.

„So close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever thrust in who you are
and nothing else matters.

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters.

Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for of something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know...

So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trust in who you are
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

I never opened myself this way
Life is ours we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for of something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know"

Tony's voice dropped to a whisper

„So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trust in ywho you are
No nothing else matter."

His voice trailed off. It wasn't just a song. It was their song. When he looked into Gibbs face he knew that it was their life. Every word of it.
Chapter End Notes:
Ok, normally I don't write Slash, and Mel is gonna kill me for it but anyway, I heard the song, read slash and had to think of this...I hope you'll like it
