I'm so happy to see a new story from your imagination. I'm not familiar with HK, beyond a wacky centaur AU, but you've very nicely set up who Joe & Levon are & their role in Tony's life. This is a great point to pick up Tony's need for a change--one that not many authors have recognized. The entire first half of that season, up to this episode, was really one blow after another for Tony. The lack of acknowlegment for what he did to rescue gibbs & maddie, not to mention the danger given his health history really pissed me off. I'm looking forward to seeing how this au develops, learning more about joe & levon, and discovering just who Tony will end up with. I have no problem with Tony/omc, so I'm rather excited by the possibilities. And by the prospect of more of your wonderful writing.

wow, talk about living in denial. Abby has realized a lot but she still doesn't have a clue. I like the views we're getting from the other characters, it lets us see where they are in their thinking & also how wrong the NCIS team still is about everything. I love the twist you added here regarding Tony & the American Cinema class. Perfect. And I'm sad because I had a similar twist in a story I'm working on, though who knows when it'll go anywhere other than my hd. :-D Nice to know I can think of something you already came up with. Still loving the story. I'm looking forward to getting back to Tony though.

I'm re-reading the story, well, just because I can. This far in I'm struck yet again by how richly you paint the universe in your stories. I feel that I know these people so much more because you've given them life beyond the screen. What I enjoy about this chapter is not just the well-written case/ambush action but because it so clearly tells the story of Tony's new life. I can clearly see from this, and the previous chapter when we learned he got the job, the interactions between he & his new co-workers; how healing his time with Joe & Levon has been. I like seeing how they all work, and play. Tony's musings about their after-hours camaraderie strikes so true--I can count on hand the number of times we have seen the NCIS team members interact outside of a case. It's kind of sad. Good thing there's fic like yours to fix it all. :-)

Does a man good to be knocked down a peg or five and Gibbs needed it. Absolutely love the dialogue and character actions in this chapter--I can close my eyes and 'hear' what they're saying because it is so natural and realistic. I am gleefully anticipating Lundy & Joe going after Shepard.

excellent job with Jenny--really captures the dichotomy (inconsistencies) of the character. Also love how Tony handles the conversation. You continue to do a wonderful job capturing emotions & voices with this story. It feels & plays in my imagination in a very real way. I love what you've changed & how Tony has grown; not to mention the addition of Joe & Levon.

clever. i love the extra insight into characters that you create for your stories. tony's file cabinets, and the quirk with his handwriting are the things that create a 3-dimensional character. Love how Nunes reacts to Gibbs being his usual demanding self. Some interesting insight into exactly how twisted Shepard has become in this chapter as well. From Tony's notes, and her continuing mess-ups, it's obvious she hasn't been playing with a full deck for quite awhile. Does Ducky know what's wrong with her in this AU like he did in canon? I can't remember. I also appreciate here and in the previous chapter how the Houston team doesn't want Ziva in the know. I like that suspicious nature, because I'm still not convinced when it comes to canon that she was ever truly to be trusted.

Huh, I had forgotten about the whole Decker thing. I hope Gibbs et al get to have their pound of flesh from crazy madame director. And I keep feeling like Ziva is in on it, but that's probably me projecting & reacting to the Houston team's suspicion of her. This is a lovely chapter--the give and take of friendship, family, underscored by concern really flows wonderfully. I like seeing more evidence of what a fulfilling life and group of friends Tony has surrounding him now. I don't comment enough, but I'm so glad that you're writing this story. I've enjoyed every bit of it and am constantly guessing which way the mystery will turn. I love the relationship between Tony, Lundy and Joe not to mention the rapport with their team. It's good for Gibbs et al to see how a real supportive team works; good for Gibbs to see a competent leader who respects everyone. More than that, I really appreciate how you care for the characters and the story. When I want to read good NCIS fic it's your stories that I turn to.

Title: Chapter 5: Small Blessings Reviewer: kaleecat Signed
(I'm re-reading this story because, well, its damn good. And I'm in the mood for stories where tony either by words or actions tells the others to stick it with their attitude). I like how Tony works through his reasons for leaving--at this point in show there wasn't much reason to stay even if you leave out the idea of he & Gibbs having been in a relationship. All these seasons later, how he was treated by Abby, McGee & Ziva annoys me. (of course ziva has only done worse stuff since IMO). The one good thing that came out was the quirky friendship he developed with Palmer, so nicely shown in the ep 'Bounce' but still wish we would get more. So I really appreciate that you've kept that tie to Palmer. The introduction to the new team and then hitting their first big case is really well done. I especially like the little quirks & nuances you use to create depth in the characters & relationships--the weird french movie, throwing things & now foam balls while meeting on cases, the way Miri answers questions. I like Miri a lot, and how it is through her it gets pointed out to Tony how he still reacts & is affected by how he was treated before. The campfire leads us through the case, and their thinking, with a very nice pacing. It never gets bogged down as happens often in fics that mix case with relationships. You juggle & treat both equally well.

I've just caught up on your story & have to say I'm really enjoying it. I love stories that showcase capable, smart Tony & having him be an MD is definitely something new. I'm enjoying the fact that his sabbatical is bringing the truth home to Kate, Tim and even Gibbs. In canon their attitudes, & Ziva's, toward Tony often had me grinding my teeth for the very reason you bring up. He is senior field agent, and is the one who primarily trained them in the first place. Not as if any of them had actual investigative or police experience in the first place. Oh, and thanks for having the Dr. Pitt cameo--I also love stories where Tony retained a friendship with Brad. I will say that the spelling errors/typos seem to be a bit worse in the latter chapter. But I do look forward to seeing where the story will go next. Thanks for sharing it.
